The text concerns the problem of the self-portrait photo, considered in the light of psychoanalysis, but also through a series of acute and personal suggestions – mainly the relationships between the camera and the psychic apparatus, the notion of “photographic double” and the possibilities of “reparative processes”. The paper presented here is a tribute to the intelligence and sensibility of a scholar who left us too soon: Maurizio Giuffredi.
