Heart and head and The perception of the others, in the Italian translation proposed here, are two articles published by the Spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset (1883-1955) in “La Nación” of Buenos Aires in 1927 and 1929, respectively. From the dialogical writing of the intellectual who more deeply represented the need for revival and modernization of Spain in the half of the twentieth century, we are introduced to very near to us issues such as: the reeducation to the values of a new humanism which offsets the confidence of the European man in technical progress and intellectual improvement; psychological – visual – processes as hermeneutic model; the problem of perception of the next establishing the dialectic between radical differences (the distance between different, opposite individuals, man and woman) and possible understanding of others.
