About the Journal

Focus and Scope

PsicoArt publishes research work in order to promote an interdisciplinary understanding of the relationship between art, literature, psychology and psychoanalysis. In particular, the journal invites papers in the following areas: - artistic creation and fruition, with a particular focus on the dynamics of self-representation in writing - history and critical theories of the outsider art - museum visitor studies - art therapy practice and its theoretical implications - research in the field of medical humanities. Another section of the journal (Reprint) is dedicated to texts and documents of historical value and so far as related to topics of interest. Every edition of Psico Art also advertises events and contains article and book reviews in order to allow readers to keep abreast of important new developments in the field of psychology of art.

Peer Review Process

All the proposed articles are reviewed initially by the Editorial Board, which, after a first screening on its consistency with the journal’s scope and mission, submits the papers to the plagiarism detect service iThenticate. After that, it sends the submitted article to two or more external reviewers, who will rigorously evaluate its scientific value through a double-blind process. Reviewers are leading scholars and experts in history/theories of art and in scientific-psychological fields; they are chosen by the Editorial Board on the base of their expertise and knowledge on the selected article topics, and they will assure the compliance with the maximum standards of scientific quality. Their evaluation concerns mainly: the relevance of the themes, the originality of the article, the quality of the argumentation, and the clarity in argumentation. The evaluation process results will be communicated to the authors in 60 days.

The double-blind peer-reviewed journal’s sections are: Articles, Notes and Reviews & Interviews. The Reprint section contains texts chosen only by the Editorial Board and by the Scientific Committee.
